Job Requirements: Design, develop, and implement workforce development plans and training programs for existing surveying and mapping technicians seeking to advance their careers in the field. Develop a robust outreach (Extension) program aimed at recruiting and training surveying/mapping technicians and professionals. Efforts will focus on those who are not currently in the industry, but express interest in surveying and mapping careers, as well as those who are currently employed in the industry but wish to advance in their field. Work with state of Florida colleges and UF academic advisers and recruiters to introduce prospective students to surveying and mapping as a means to build additional workforce capacity for the profession in Florida. Oversee programming and educational development for high school students to learn about career opportunities in surveying and mapping, as well as prepare them for entry-level field work in surveying and mapping. Work closely with the professional surveying community to reach relevant audiences and create training opportunities to expand the workforce available to surveying businesses. Explore certification opportunities to provide participants with credentials that ensure basic levels of competence and familiarity with surveying and mapping practice. Regular program evaluation to ensure the quality of educational programs meet industry needs and standards, and to ensure progress is being made toward workforce development goals.
